Hello and welcome to Puppy Training 101. If you can't tell yet,
I love dogs and always have ever since I was a little boy.
I love all dogs and no breed in particular. I would probably say I am swayed mostly towards mixed breeds (or mutts as some would call them) as I really feel they make the best pets. I even went to my local animal shelter once about 10 years ago and took every dog they had home with me. Total of 8 adult dogs including one with 9 (3 day old) puppies. I was able to find good homes for some of the dogs and puppies and the others became part of my family.
In the last 20+ years I've had more than my share of dogs and have
learned a lot from my mistakes in raising them. That's one
of the main purposes of this site... to help you avoid many of the
frustrating mistakes many new dog owners make so you can enjoy
your companion for years to come.
My other purpose for this site is to pay tribute to the dogs
I've had, loved, and lost. Having lost 13 dogs over the last 3 years to old age I have come to realize that although they may be gone from my physical life they will always be with me in my heart and mind. I miss them all dearly. This site was born to honor all of my dogs past and present.
While I may at times focus on the
unglamorous responsible side of dog ownership, I just want to make sure you know
what you're getting into. It's not meant to change your mind about
getting a puppy, but too many dogs are homeless today because
people didn't know what they were getting into.
So I hope you find this website useful and will tell anyone
that is considering getting a puppy to visit. It's relatively new
but will keep growing over time to be a very big resource for new
dog owners. My goal here is to have a great one-stop
resource for all your puppy training needs.
